AR Build Class

This class is designed for the novice gun builder.  This is a great opportunity for a Father or Mother, as the student, to build one AR with a child 13 to 17 years old sharing the experience.   

 

Each student must be 18 years or older and be eligible to legally purchase a Firearm.

Students will learn:

• How the AR platform operates.

• The name of each part and its function in the rifle.

• How to assemble each part into a complete and functioning rifle.

• How to care for and maintain your rifle.

• The basics of shooting your rifle.

Students receive either:

• An AR 15 build kit containing all parts necessary to build a complete rifle in 5.56 NATO with a 16” barrel and 15” M-Lok handguard.

• An AR 10 build kit containing all parts necessary to build a complete rifle in .308 with 18” barrel and 11.5” handguard.

​

Students need:

• Photo identification.

• If you have a LTC license bring it to expedite paper work.

• 10 rounds of new ammunition in correct caliber for the rifle you build.

Your instructor will be Shield Firearms owner and head Gunsmith Brett Harmon. 

 

Each student will learn how the AR Platform and each of its components work.  During this class, students will build their own personal rifle and test fire it on our Range.

 

This class is 4 hours.
